Book recommendation: The Three-Body Problem

If you’re into science fiction that bends your mind and keeps you hooked, I can’t recommend The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin enough. I’m currently reading the trilogy, and it’s incredibly addictive.

The story dives deep into the mysteries of the universe, starting with a Chinese scientist disillusioned during the Cultural Revolution, which leads to first contact with an alien civilization.

The aliens, from a world suffering under the chaos of three suns, have their eyes set on Earth, and the philosophical and scientific questions that follow are fascinating.

The way Liu blends real scientific concepts with an imaginative and gripping narrative keeps you turning pages, wondering what comes next. It’s full of existential questions about humanity’s place in the cosmos and what we’d do if we found out we’re not alone—and if that other civilization isn’t friendly.

If you like a mix of hard science fiction, philosophy, and deep world-building, this trilogy is worth getting into.

On top of that, I’ve also watched the series on Netflix, which is just as entertaining. It captures the tension and complexity of the story while visually bringing some of the book’s more abstract ideas to life. Highly recommend both!
