High Force Waterfall

High Force Waterfall

High Force is a large waterfall on the River Tees in Teesdale. The river drops sharply over a hard layer of rock called Whin Sill. The water falls straight down into a deep pool below, creating a powerful, continuous flow.

The path to High Force starts near the car park by the High Force Hotel. It leads through woodland and along the river. The trail is clear and easy to follow. When you arrive at the viewing area, the waterfall is fully visible. The drop is impressive, and the river moves steadily downstream.

Along the path to High Force, there are several wooden sculptures that resemble totems. These carvings stand beside the trail, adding an artistic touch to the natural surroundings. They are simple but distinct, blending with the trees and the forest floor.
